reference centre specialized in library and information science. It is designed for
librarians, information staff and specialists, teachers and students as well as interested

Our collection consists of over 30,000 volumes and 200 titles of periodicals in
librarianship, library science, bibliography, bibliology and information science. The
collection covers nearly completely Czech and Slovak literature of the branch and also an
extensive selection of important foreign monographs, anthologies, periodicals, and
handbooks. Conference materials and IFLA reports are also available as well as business
journey reports. There is also a collection of company documents concerning automatic
library systems including demos.

Currently, we have been working to make the SPOJ database available
through Internet. As a temporary compensation of this service, we provide you with the
possibility to download the experimental electronic version of Czech Library and
Information Science Bibliography (BCKBVI) for 1989 - 1995 (in Czech). Compressed files of
the bibliography are available in the following ASCII codes: Kamenicky and Latin 2.

Out-of-house/ in -house. All the Library and Information Science Library's collections
can be studied in our Study Room, and duplicate volumes may be borrowed outside the
Library or through the National Library and
its Interlibrary Loan Services. Photocopy services are available next-door in
the Periodicals Reading Room. The Library's services include classical
and automated search services based on its catalogues, document indexes, and databases.
The readers can also use the databases
of the National Library, and CASLIN
and Internet. The readers can also use the computers in the Study Room. The Library
provides SDI services (automated searches directed by user-specified thematic profiles).
On request (and subject to the Library's capacity), we can provide the users with
comprehensive analytical reports from the domain of library and information science. Public library directory
is used to provide reference information on Czech public libraries.
